Greek Carnival Season known as "Apokries" is mainly a period of masquerading, but also eating, drinking and dancing. Traditionally, it begins ten weeks before Greek Orthodox Easter and culminates on the weekend before "Clean Monday," (Ash Monday) the first day of Lent. "Apokria", literally means “goodbye” to the period of meat-eating, or abstinence from meat (Apo-kreo, meaning away from meat). Clean (or Ash) Monday is a public holiday in Greece which marks the end of the carnival festive season and the start of Lent or the period of fasting until Easter.

Halloween is celebrated on 31st October. This isn’t a public holiday in Britain. Halloween is the night before the Catholic festival of All Saints and the pagan Celtic festival of Samhain (1st November).

Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States (the fourth Thursday of November). Since 1952, it has been regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season in the U.S., and most major retailers open very early (and more recently during overnight hours) and offer promotional sales.

A New Etwinning Year has started....

On Thursday 27th of October, after the National Holiday festival, the students of the Art of Graffiti etwinning project will be awarded certificates for the excellent performance in the last year project. Congratulations to all!!!   

Το έργο The Art of Graffiti που εκπόνησαν κατά το σχολικό έτος 2015-16 οι αγγλομαθείς μαθητές της Γ’ τάξης του σχολείου μας στο πλαίσιο της Ευρωπαϊκής δράσης eTwinning, της  ηλεκτρονικής δηλαδή αδελφοποίησης  με διάφορα ευρωπαϊκά σχολεία, βραβεύθηκε με την Εθνική Ετικέτα  Ποιότητας, βραβείο που απονέμεται σε έργα «eTwinning που κατάφεραν να φτάσουν σε υψηλό επίπεδο ποιότητας πληρώντας μια σειρά από κριτήρια που έχουν τεθεί από την Κεντρική Υπηρεσία Υποστήριξης σε συνεργασία με τις αντίστοιχες Εθνικές Υπηρεσίες Υποστήριξης της δράσης. Η ετικέτα ποιότητας είναι η απτή αναγνώριση στους καθηγητές και τα σχολεία για το υψηλό επίπεδο των eTwinning δραστηριοτήτων τους. Στους μαθητές, προσφέρει μία ενίσχυση στην προσπάθειά τους, και στο σχολείο γενικότερα, μία δημόσια επιβεβαίωση της δέσμευσής του για την ποιότητα και την ειλικρίνεια σε μία Ευρωπαϊκή συνεργασία.»

Ανάλογα βραβεία πήραν και τα σχολεία στην Ιταλία που συνεργαστήκαμε. 

Συγχαρητήρια σε όλους τους μαθητές και καθηγητές για αυτή τους την επιτυχία, που ήρθε σαν επιβράβευση των κόπων που κατέβαλαν κατά την περσινή σχολική χρονιά.

Street Art in our School

On Wednesday, 6th of February 2016, Simple G, the talented street artist visited our school again and created a graffiti on one of the walls of our school. He also helped students to create their own pieces of street art and invited us to watch him creating another piece of street art. The result was brilliant and both students and teachers were excited. We thank him so much!!! 

 

SimpleG has visited our school for the twinning students

A very promising and talented artist visited our school last Wednesday. He talked about STREET ART to the etwinning group of our school. He also created a piece of art for us in a few minutes. Everyone was amazed !!! Thank you Simple G!!!
